CHICAGO — A Morgan Park man who died after being pinned beneath a Red Line train Thursday night committed suicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Richard Shannon Jr., 23, of the 10800 block of South Racine Avenue, was hit by a CTA train at the 87th Street Red Line stop about 9 p.m. Thursday, officials said. He died from multiple blunt force injuries, the medical examiner's office said.
Red Line service was suspended for about two hours between the 79th Street and 95th Street stops while emergency crews worked to free Shannon, who was later pronounced dead on the scene.
