CHICAGO — Police are looking for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman near the 55th Red Line station in Washington Park, according to a community alert.

About 4:25 a.m. Feb. 24, the man approached the woman as she left the 55th Red Line station and tried to talk to her, police said.

The woman walked away, and the man followed her west on East Garfield Boulevard. The man then grabbed her jacket, threw her down and tried to sexually assault her, officials said.

The woman escaped and ran back to the Red Line station, police said.

The man is described as Middle Eastern or Hispanic, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He has short hair, brown eyes and a mustache and goatee, according to the community alert.

The man was wearing a grey, collared Old Navy sweatshirt and blue jeans. He may have cuts or bruising on his face or head, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
