CHICAGO — A man was critically hurt after a fire broke out in a Bronzeville high-rise early Sunday, according the Chicago Fire Department.

A fire started on the second floor of a 16-story building in the 4200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue sometime before 12:15 a.m., the fire department said.

Officials said a man was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Hospital.

The blaze was under control by about 1 a.m., the fire department said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
