CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert warning Washington Park residents of a spike in home burglaries during December.

Offenders took small appliances, electronics, jewelry, money and car parts from homes and garages, according to the alert.

The burglaries occurred in the 5700 block of South Michigan Avenue, the 5600 block of South Calumet Avenue and the 5700 block of South Prairie Avenue, police said.

The alert did not provide specific times, dates or any other details about the burglaries.
