CHICAGO — A woman was found shot to death near her home in Woodlawn Monday, authorities said.
Alexis Stevens, 23, was found unresponsive by a garbage truck driver in a yard in a vacant lot in the 6400 block of South Eberhart Avenue, just steps from her home, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
An autopsy found that the victim died from a gunshot wound to the arm and ruled her death a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
Stevens was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:33 a.m, authorities said.
