WICKER PARK — All four incumbents retained their seats for two-year terms on the board of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, and four new members were elected during a spirited election Wednesday.

Newly-elected board member Alex Averbach, who co-owns Tangerine boutique, said that running for the chamber was something she wanted to do for several few years.

"I'm a small indie retailer on Damen and part of the commercial strip that's always changing," she said. "I want to see everyone work together. Everyone wants our neighborhood to succeed."

Joining Averbach on the new team are Steven Vargas, from Pro Mobile Websites, David Stearns, owner of Bar Bar Black Sheep, and Mike Cho, from Wicker Park Tavern and Cafe Absinthe, 1954 W. North Ave., which hosted the election night event.

Re-elected incumbents were Melissa Daza Mondero, of Bucktown Wicker Park Dental, Ann Nolan, of State Farm Insurance, Ginna Ryan, of Mauge, Inc. and Michele Gomez, who is co-owner of M.GO Fashion Salon.

Ten candidates ran for the eight open board spots in the Nov. 14 election. There are 12 members of the board, who all serve two-year terms. The other four spots will be up for grabs in 2013.
