Louder Than a Bomb

Last month, Kuumba Lynx took home its sixth team championship at the Louder Than A Bomb poetry contest.

Kuumba Lynx veteran Sejahari Saulter-Villegas also took home the 2017 Gwendolyn Brooks Lit Award.

The Louder Than A Bomb festival founder's book, "A People's History of Chicago," includes 77 poems.

The poetry competition needed help getting food for the students, and Nothing Bundt Cakes stepped up.

WBEZ, Vocalo and Young Chicago Authors will host the release party Saturday at Metro Chicago.

The month-long poetry festival Louder Than A Bomb concluded Saturday was held at the Auditorium Theatre.

Hearing the Detroit rapper speak at the Chicago Cultural Center was "life-changing," one teen said.

The meditation center, at 37 N. Carpenter St., will offer yoga and tai chi classes and more.

All ages are welcome to attend the free workshops, which feature spoken word and drumming.
