Mayor Rahm Emanuel promised every bus or train car will be new or rehabbed by the end of 2019.

Ahead of a June 3 public hearing, CTA officials answered some of the top questions about the flyover.

A resident at risk of losing his home said the CTA refused to "show its cards."

Some Lakeview ballots on Nov. 4 will feature a question on the proposed Belmont Bypass.

The funding will help pay for the Belmont Station flyover and updating the Red and Purple lines.

The CTA presented renderings, facts and figures at a Lakeview open house Thursday night.

"We're trying to get facts out so that people will care," said a local resident who passed out fliers.

It includes 16 buildings needed for the Belmont Bypass and three for the Lawrence-to-Bryn Mawr project.

One targeted landlord recently took out a $2.1 million mortgage to help renovate a commercial building.

But the landlord of the building at 3226 N. Clark St. said it would ruin the character of the street.

Daniel Dvorkin was convicted of trying to kill someone who won an $8.3 million judgment against him.
