Burglars Targeted South Shore Homes 8 Times In September, Police Warn

CHICAGO — South Shore was hit by eight burglaries during September, police said.

During the burglaries, the thieves forced their way into apartments and homes and stole money, electronics and other items, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The burglaries occurred:

• 4:45 a.m. Sept. 4 in the 7500 block of South Colfax Avenue

• 10 a.m. Sept. 5 in the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue

• 11 a.m. Sept. 11 in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue

• 8:20 a.m. Sept. 15 in the 2400 block of East 79th Street

• 7:05 a.m. Sept. 19 in the 7700 block of South Phillips Avenue

• 7:45 a.m. Sept. 19 in the 7800 block of South Saginaw Avenue

• 3 a.m. Sept. 23 in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue

• 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue

There was no description of the burglar or burglars.

Police advised people to make sure their doors and windows were secured, the outside of their homes were well-lit and to record serial numbers for their valuables.
