Woodlawn Hit With 9 Burglaries In 2 Weeks

WOODLAWN — Woodlawn has been hit by a string of nine burglaries over two weeks, peaking with three burglaries in a single day.

The burglaries started on July 26 and continued through Aug. 9, with most happening during the middle of the week, according to police.

There was little else that police noted as a consistent pattern, with burglars forcing their way in through the front or back of homes.

Police were not able to provide a description of any of the suspected burglars and did not list any incidents where a homeowners was home and confronted a burglar.

The robberies include:

• 10:30 a.m. July 26 in the 6600 block of South Kimbark Avenue

• 7 p.m. July 27 in the 6500 block of South Minerva Avenue

• 1 a.m. Aug. 1 in the 700 block of East 69th Place

• Noon Aug. 2 in the 6600 block of South Drexel Avenue

• 3:30 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 6600 block of South Maryland Avenue

• 6 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 600 block of East 69th Street

• midnight Aug. 7 in the 1500 block of East Marquette Road

• 1:50 a.m. Aug. 8 in the 6500 block of South Rhodes Avenue

• 7 a.m. Aug. 9 in the 6600 block of South Drexel Avenue
