Dan Ryan Woods 100th Anniversary Celebration Happening Sunday

 The Dan Ryan Woods will celebrate its 100th anniversary from 2-7 p.m. Sunday with a series of free activities at 87th Street and Western Avenue in Beverly.

BEVERLY — The Dan Ryan Woods will celebrate its 100th anniversary from 2-7 p.m. Sunday with a series of free activities in Beverly.

Archery lessons, bike tours, bird hikes and more will be offered as well as multiple excursions through the 257-acre property designed to share the history of the forest preserve at 87th Street and Western Avenue.

Attendees will also be able to purchase food from several visiting food trucks and enjoy live music from 3:30-4:30 p.m. courtesy of a jazz ensemble from the Musical Arts Institute in Roseland.

A "Forest Jam" performance will also be held by the West African music group Ghanattaat at 5:30 p.m.

The Forest Preserves of Cook County's partners in the celebration include with the Brookfield Zoo, Chicago Botanic Garden, Faith in Place, Wild Indigo, University of Illinois Extension, Pullman National Monument, Wild Blossom Meadery, Beverly Improvement Association and the Beverly Area Planning Association.
