CHICAGO — Officers used stun guns to stop a naked, bloodied man in an incident caught on video.

The incident happened at 7:23 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of North Drake Avenue. Officers were called to the area and found a naked, 20-year-old man running in the street and "acting erratically," police said.

The officers tried to calm down the man, police said, but they were unable to and used stun guns in a "dry stun technique" to stop him. In that approach, police press the Taser directly against the target in order to stun the suspect.

The man was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital for a mental evaluation and had minor injuries from the incident, police said.

A video of the incident shows the man, nude and with blood apparently on his legs, speaking to the person recording the video.

"Calm down! The police are here, man! Calm down! Relax!" someone tells the man.

An officer orders the man to the ground, and the man runs at the officer. An unseen person yells at the officers to shoot the man.

The man sits and lays on the street as another police car pulls up. The man then stands and begins to walk toward the officers, at which point the officers appear to use a stun gun on the man.

The man is seen falling to the ground and laying on the street as the video ends.

Chicago Police have increased the number of stun guns available to officers and given training to more officers since 2016.
