MORGAN PARK — Chicago Police in the Morgan Park District are selling hats to raise money for improvements to the gym at the police station at 1900 W. Monterey Ave.

The mesh-back hats cost $20 are available in black and blue in sizes medium/large and large/extra large, Sgt. Mike Egan said.

The hats then feature either black or blue lettering with the No. 22 — a nod to officers in the 22nd or Morgan Park District.

Several supporters bought the hats Friday at the Beverly Hills Cycling Classic and more are available, Egan said.

The fundraiser follows a similar effort in February when officers on the Far Southwest Side sold "challenge coins" ahead of the South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade. The proceeds from that effort went to pay for retirement parties for officers in the district.

For more information or to purchase a hat, visit the station or call the CAPS office at 312-745-0620.
