IRVING PARK — Want to save some of the city's dying ash trees? It's as easy as drinking beer.

Horner Park's inaugural Brew Fest will bring together more than a dozen local craft breweries — including the coming soon Ravinia Brewing — with proceeds to benefit the sustainability initiatives of the park's advisory council, including ongoing efforts to preserve Horner's 65 remaining ash trees.

The fest is set for 6-10 p.m. Friday at the park's tennis courts near Montrose and California.

Don't give a hoot about trees? Come for the 30-plus beers on tap, live music from the soul band Bumpus and a lineup of food trucks.

Tickets to the event are limited, and can be bought in advance online. Admission is $40, which includes a tasting glass and samples from every participating brewery. "Designated Driver" tickets cost $10, and include entry to the fest along with bottled water.
