Shaundel Wimberly Shot Dead By Man Who Chased Her Down, Officials Say

CHICAGO — A woman was shot to death in Grand Crossing on Monday afternoon, police said.

At 4:39 p.m., the woman was a passenger in a car in the 7800 block of South Kimbark Avenue when a man inside the car fired shots, police said. The woman ran out of the car and the man shot at her several more times.

The woman was hit in her face and head and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Shaundel Wimberly, 27, of the 1100 block of West 81st Street, was pronounced dead at 5 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed she died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
