There's A High-End Bike Theft Spree Happening In The South Loop

SOUTH LOOP — Burglars are breaking into South Loop garages and walking away with high-end bicycles — and police are now distributing photos of the thieves to track them down.

Seven such break-ins have been reported since June 20, police said. Two suspects were wearing yellow construction worker vests, while another was wearing a Cubs hat, police said.

The burglaries have happened at all times of day since the spree began nearly three weeks ago. The crimes took place at:

• 9:06 p.m. June 22 in the 1200 block of South Wabash Avenue

• 1:30 p.m. June 20 in the 1300 block of South Wabash Avenue

• 3:48 a.m. June 28 in the 1400 block of South Michigan Avenue

• 11 a.m. July 2 in the 1400 block of South Michigan Avenue

• Between 10 p.m. June 30 and 6 a.m. July 1 in the 100 block of West Polk Street

• Between 1 p.m. July 1 and 8:30 p.m. July 2 in the 1000 block of South Clark Street

• Between 5 p.m. July 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of South Michigan Avenue
