BEVERLY — Parents, teachers, social workers, teens and others are invited to "Beyond the Binary; A Conversation About Gender" from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Beverly's Ridge Park.

The discussion at 9625 S. Longwood Drive will be led by a pair of transgender advocates: Bonn Wade of Beverly Therapists and Alexis Martinez, a nationally-known Chicago activist and grandmother.

Martinez said participants will discuss the broader gender spectrum with a goal of helping those in the audience, "gain a fundamental understanding of just what being transgender is all about."

The discussion is free to attend. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page.
