CHICAGO — A 31-year-old woman was raped and robbed near the border of North Center and Lincoln Square on Sunday night, police said.

At 9:10 p.m., the woman was walking in the 2500 block of West Pensacola Avenue when a man grabbed her from behind, said he was robbing her and threatened her with what might have been a handgun, police said.

The woman gave the man her cellphone and money, and the man forced her into an alley and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The attacker ran away, and no one is in custody. Police were unable to provide a detailed description of the suspect.

The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.
