HYDE PARK — The University of Chicago Symphony Orchestra is bringing on a taxi horn player for a very authentic performance of George Gershwin compositions for its spring concert.

Korean pianist Ko-Eun Yi will join the 100-member orchestra for a performance of Gershwin compositions at 8 p.m. Saturday at Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th St., on the university campus.

To get the right sound for “An American In Paris,” the orchestra has tracked down authentic taxi horns from 1929 that get just the right combination of pitches.

Yi will join the orchestra for a performance of "Concerto in F." Gershwin’s "Three Preludes" rounds out the performance.

Tickets are available at the door for $10, $5 for students.
