ANDERSONVILLE — Feminist author Roxane Gay will read and discuss her new book at a March event hosted by Women and Children First bookstore.

The bookstore at 5233 N. Clark St. began selling tickets Tuesday at 11 a.m. for the March 15 event, which also features Gay signing her new book "Difficult Women." The conversation will be lead by Britt Julious, a journalist, essayist and storyteller who's written for Esquire, Vice, GQ and the Tribune.

"Roxane Gay is an inspiration for women everywhere, and black women especially. I know that I am not alone in admiring her eclectic career and all of her accomplishments," said Julious. "As a black journalist, a writer and a storyteller, I look to her to see what is possible when it sometimes seems impossible."

"Difficult Women" is Gay's fourth book. She's also written "Ayiti," "An Untamed State" and New York Times best seller "Bad Feminist." She's also the author of the illustrated novel "World of Wakanda" from Marvel and has a memoir, "Hunger," scheduled to come out this year, according to her website.

Gay has also written opinion columns for the New York Times focusing on the intersections of identity and culture since 2015, according to the publication.

"She's shown that the life of a writer does not have to be constricted by genre. She is a trailblazer. I'm excited to get the chance to talk to her about her accomplishments, her new book and her exciting upcoming projects," said Julious.

"Difficult Women," which was released Tuesday, is "a collection of stories of rare force and beauty, of hardscrabble lives, passionate loves, and quirky and vexed human connection," according to her website.

The event will be at 7 p.m. at Senn High School, 5900 N. Glenwood Ave. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for a book and a general admission spot. The book and two spots cost $40. Tickets are available here.
