Near West Side Shooting Wounds Man, 23, Police Say

NEAR WEST SIDE — A 23-year-old man was shot on the Near West Side Monday night. 

At 10:50 p.m. Monday, the man was standing outside in the 200 block of South Leavitt Street when someone in a silver Ford Fusion drove up and shouted gang slogans and fired shots, Chicago Police said.

The 23-year-old was grazed in his right arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

The victim is a documented gang member, a police source said.

The shooting occurred near Touhy-Herbert Park, Dett Elementary School and Chicago Bulls College Prep. 

Shootings left one dead and 16 wounded since Monday morning, police said.
