Robber Hits First Merit Bank In Irving Park

IRVING PARK — The FBI is looking for a man who robbed an Irving Park bank Thursday morning.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., the suspect robbed the First Merit Bank at 4012 N. Pulaski Road, according to the FBI.

The man, captured on surveillance video, is described as between 5-feet-3-inches and 5-feet-6-inches tall, in his mid-30s and of slim build. He was wearing a dark colored winter coat, a gray hooded sweatshirt that covered his head, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

No weapon was shown, the FBI said.

According to statistics provided by the FBI, Cook County Sheriff's Office and Chicago Police Department, there have been 180 bank robberies to date in 2016 in northern Illinois, compared with 144 in 2015. In 2006, there were a high of 284 bank robberies.
