LINCOLN SQUARE — It pays to shop local during the holiday season.
Chambers of commerce are once again offering rewards for keeping dollars in Lincoln Square and Ravenswood.
Programs from both the Lincoln Square Ravenswood chamber and the Greater Ravenswood chamber kick off Friday and run through Dec. 24.
The Rules
Spend a minimum of $300 during the promotions' timeframe, spread among at least three businesses in the chambers' boundaries, no less than $25 at any one shop or restaurant. Memberships and medications don't count toward the total.
Lincoln Square Ravenswood boundaries: Foster, Ashland and Montrose avenues and the Chicago River.
Greater Ravenswood boundaries: Clark Street, Leavitt, Foster and Irving Park Road.
The Rewards (first 150 shoppers)
Lincoln Square Ravenswood is handing out a pair of grand prizes to the two shoppers who spend the most money. Up for grabs: "a year of dining local" — 12 $50 gift certificates to local restaurants. Other participants will receive $50 Visa gift cards, which can be spent anywhere.
Greater Ravenswood is offering shoppers $75 rebates in the form of three $25 gift cards to local businesses.
