Roseland Shooting Kills Jarod Morris, 22, And Wounds Another, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Roseland killed Jarod Morris, 22, and wounded another man on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

At 1:15 p.m., the men were in a backyard in the 11300 block of South Edbrooke Avenue when someone in an alley fired shots at them, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 22-year-old man was hit in his back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Amezaga said.

Morris, of the 11200 block of South Indiana, died of a gunshot wound in a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

A 19-year-old man was hit in his right elbow and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in serious condition.
