COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Back of the Yards man has been charged in the murder of 25-year-old Jeremy Clark.

According to prosecutors, Clark was gunned down at a crowded dice game in the 5000 block of South Elizabeth Street about 4:30 p.m. June 24.

When Clark arrived at the game, 24-year-old Corey Binns approached to say hello, Assistant State's Attorney Jullian Brevard said during a bond hearing Thursday.

The pair spoke for a short while before walking toward the dice game, prosecutors said. As Clark bent over to watch the rolling of the dice, Binns pulled a gun and shot Clark once in the back of the neck, according to Brevard.

Binns fled the scene, prosecutors said, and Clark was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

Several witnesses told police Binns and Clark argued over money two years ago, but many believed the issue "was all supposed to have been settled," Brevard said.

At least three people were able to identify Binns as the shooter. He was arrested on a warrant this week in Iowa, where he'd been jailed for another matter, prosecutors said.

Brevard, of the 5200 block of South Loomis Boulevard, is charged with first-degree murder.

Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil on Thursday ordered him held without bail.
