Auburn Gresham Hit By 5 Robberies In Just 2 Blocks

CHICAGO — Thieves have been targeting a small patch of Auburn Gresham during a string of robberies.

During the robberies, the thieves implied they had guns and demanded their victims give them property or took the victims' property by force without using a weapon, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The robberies occurred:

• 4:40 p.m. Sept. 15 in the 1200 block of West 79th Street

• 5 p.m. Sept. 26 in the 7900 block of South May Street

• 4:25 p.m. Sept. 27 in the 1200 block of West 79th Street

• 8:03 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 1300 block of West 79th Street

• 8 p.m. Thursday in the 7900 block of South May Street

The robbers were one to three black men who were 16 to 19 years old, police said. One of them was described as a man or boy who was 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10 tall, and one might weigh 130 to 133 pounds, police said. One was riding a black BMX bicycle.
