Washington Park Shooting Kills Eric Banks, 25, Police Say

WASHINGTON PARK — A 25-year-old man died after being shot multiple times in Washington Park early Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The man was shot at 1:51 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Wabash Avenue, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Zala said. He was later pronounced dead.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Eric Banks, of the same block.

No one is in custody, Zala said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.
