WEST LOOP — Heavy metal-themed burger spot Kuma's Corner will open its next location in Fulton Market next year.

The new restaurant will open on the ground floor of the Brooklyn Bowl development, now under construction at 832 W. Fulton Market, in February, confirmed Kuma's owner Ron Cain.

The 3,800-square-foot restaurant will be "a hybrid" of the three existing Kuma's locations — the original Avondale restaurant at 2900 W. Belmont Ave., that opened in 2005; Kuma's Too in Lakeview and Kuma's Schaumburg.

Fulton Market "is such an exploding area," Cain said Monday.

The new restaurant may feature some retired Kuma's burgers and plans to cater to pre- and post-show crowds at Brooklyn Bowl, which will feature 24 bowling lanes, a stage and bar.

The West Loop is home to a number of much-buzzed burgers, including award-winning Au Cheval, Grange Hall Burger Bar and recently-opened Umami Burger. New York-based burger chain Shake Shack will also open a location at 185 N. Morgan St. later this year.

Kuma's Corner has been named to a number of top burger lists in the past. In 2014, the Kuma Burger was named The Daily Meal's "Best Burger in America."

Founded by his brother Mike Cain, Ron Cain launched the Lakeview and Schaumburg locations and has since bought the business from his brother.

Kuma's is planning to further expand, and Cain said he is contemplating a number of new locations, possibly in suburban Vernon Hills, Nashville, Milwaukee and California.
