CHICAGO — Five people have been shot and wounded in Chicago since Thursday, police said.

• Most recently, at 1 a.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was shot in South Chicago, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was driving in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue when two men yelled gang slogans at him and then fired shots from the sidewalk.

The man was hit in his back. He took himself to South Shore Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

• At 3:10 p.m. Thursday, two men were shot in Austin, Estrada said. The men, 22 and 23 years old, were driving in the 5100 block of West Harrison Street when they stopped at a red light and shots were fired at their car.

The men drove themselves to Loretto Hospital and were transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said.

The 23-year-old man was hit in his abdomen and was in critical condition, Estrada said. The 22-year-old was hit in his back and was in good condition.

The 22-year-old was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 1:20 p.m., a man and a woman were shot in North Lawndale, Estrada said. The two were walking in the 4200 block of West 21st Street when a green minivan stopped and someone inside the car fired shots at the man and woman. The car then drove off.

The man, 18, was hit three times in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

The woman, 23, was hit in her leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
