CHICAGO — He was Chicago's hometown hero, a Mr. Basketball winner and multiple state champion who got drafted No. 1 by his beloved Chicago Bulls.
Derrick Rose won the NBA MVP when he was just 22 years old. He was unstoppable with the ball in his hands — until knee injury after knee injury slowed him down.
On Wednesday, the Bulls ended the Derrick Rose era by sending him to the New York Knicks, according to multiple reports.
The trade dominated social media in Chicago when the news broke.
"From Simeon to the Bulls, Derrick Rose is Chicago," one person said.
