CHICAGO — A school bus driving through Pilsen had to be evacuated early Friday after its engine caught fire, according to police.
The bus was driving in the 1500 block of South Ashland Avenue at 6:45 a.m. Friday when the engine started to flame, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Seven passengers were on the bus at the time and all made it off the bus without suffering injuries, Quaid said. It is not known how many of the passengers were students.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, according to reports.
