ENGLEWOOD — A 21-year-old man died after being shot in Englewood late Monday night, police said.

Around 10:45 p.m., the man was walking in the 5600 block of South May Street when someone shot at him from a passing black sedan, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in his side, Pacheco said. He was later pronounced dead.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
