NORTH CENTER — After the weekend's Ribfest, "food coma" is a perfectly acceptable excuse to call in sick to work today.

The annual pork out came to a close Sunday night with the announcement of a new Best Ribs champ: Woodstock-based BBQ King Smokehouse.

The Smoke Daddy came in second and Austin's Texas Lightning took third in the judges' vote.

The people have also spoken and for the second year in a row chose Q-BBQ Lakeview as their favorite.

North Center's very own Mr. B's BBQ came in second in the People's Choice contest, with Austin's Texas Lightning coming in third.

For the last three years Miki Sudo and Michelle Lesco have finished 1-2 in Major League Eating's RibMania competition. Could anyone break their stranglehold on the title?

Adrian Morgan answered the call. Ranked fifth by Major League Eating, Morgan took home the $2,000 check as RibMania champ, having gnawed his way through 2.95 pound of ribs in eight minutes.

Sudo finished second, downing 2.825 pounds, and Lesco came in fifth with 2.431 pounds.
