DOWNTOWN — It's expected to rain every day during this Memorial Day weekend.

The city is expected to get a quarter-inch to half-inch of rain throughout the long weekend, said AccuWeather meteorologist Alyson Hoegg. The good news: The storms will be spotty, meaning some areas could stay dry, and "most people [will] end up with very little rain."

Friday has the highest chance of rain, Hoegg said: The day will see a mix of clouds and sun. Thunderstorms could start as early as 2 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. only to return at 10 p.m.

The city is expected to be hit with spotty showers and thunderstorms 1-5 p.m. Saturday. They'll re-start at midnight and continue until 9 a.m. Sunday, but the rest of the day is expected to be dry, Hoegg said.

Memorial Day on Monday will also get some rain that comes in just in time to potentially ruin your holiday barbecues: Showers and thunders are expected to start at 3 p.m., but they'll be spotty and shouldn't last long.

“I think it’s very spotty activity,” Hoegg said. “So people might have to take cover for 15 minutes or half an hour if they’re outside during the afternoon or early evening hours on Monday. But I don’t think it’s a complete washout … .”
