CLEARING — A 49-year-old man died after his ATV collided with a car in a Southwest Side intersection Tuesday night, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m., the man was driving without a helmet when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of 62nd Street and Austin Avenue and crashed into a car, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, Tranior said, where he was pronounced dead.

Shocked neighbors told NBC Chicago that the man was "really cautious" and "never speeding."
