GRANT PARK — The latest sculpture in Grant Park is "Yellow Arch," a precursor to a new $10-million city campaign to add public art throughout Chicago.

The Chicago Park District will display the works in neighborhood parks, libraries and other public places, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Thursday.

"Not just Downtown, not just our museums, but our parks and neighborhoods throughout Chicago," Emanuel said.

The campaign is part of a five-year cultural plan underway, and its announcement follows that of an endeavor to add art to more CTA stations. The new art project will include exhibitions and installations in places including Bronzeville, Edison Park, Garfield Park, South Chicago and West Humboldt Park.

The total number of art pieces and where they will be located has yet to be determined, said Shannon Breymaier, a mayoral spokeswoman.

Yellow Arch is from Wendell Castle, whose "art furniture" is on display at the nearby Art Institute of Chicago. The piece at Michigan and Jackson will be on display through April.
