MOUNT GREENWOOD — Brother Rice High School will host a bone marrow drive from 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Friday in the school's gymnasium at 10001 S. Pulaski Road in Mount Greenwood.

The Illinois State Police have sponsored the effort that aims to provide relief to those suffering from leukemia. The police have teamed up with Be the Match, a national bone marrow donor organization.

Donations begin with a simple cheek swab to determine if there is a patient who could benefit from an individual's donation, according to a press release from the state police.

“This is also our opportunity to further serve the communities where we all live and work," said Chad Peterson, the first deputy director of the state police.

No appointment is necessary. For more information about Be The Match visit the organization's website.
