CHICAGO — You better bring a jacket if you're headed to the White Sox home opener Friday.

The Sox will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field, and they'll see colder-than-usual temperatures, rain and possibly snow.

"It would have been almost nicer if we had started the season in March, in some ways," said AccuWeather meteorologist Evan Duffey.

Friday will have a high of 43 degrees (that's 13 degrees chillier than usual) and there could rain and snow showers in spots throughout the city, Duffey said. It'll be windy, too, he said.

"It's not gonna be the prettiest day for the first day of baseball," Duffey said.

Saturday won't be much better: It's expected to hit 40 degrees, but the wind will die down and some sun will slip through the clouds, making it feel warmer, Duffey said. Still, it'll probably be the best day weather-wise to catch the three-game homestand, he said.

Sunday will have a high of 49 degrees, but there will be another round of rain, with a quarter-inch to half-inch falling, Duffey said. South Side Sox fans can rejoice, though, because the "worst" of the rain will hit the city's northern neighborhoods, he said.

The Sox are asking people to arrive early Friday for the 3:10 p.m. opener. Fans should be in their seats by 2:15 p.m. for the opening ceremony.

The Saturday and Sunday games are at 1:10 p.m.
