EDISON PARK — Bands can still apply to play the Off the Trax Music Fest set for May 6-8 in Edison Park, organizers said.

The festival — formerly known as the North by Northwest Highway Music Fest — is being sponsored by the Edison Park Chamber of Commerce.

Last year, 47 bands played four Edison Park venues as part of the festival designed to showcase the music scene in Edison Park.

The festival changed its name after a music festival in Austin claimed the rights to the North by Northwest name. The new name — which refers to the Metra tracks that run through Edison Park — was picked from suggestions made on the chamber's Facebook page.

Applications are available online. The bands who play the fest will be paid between $200 and $400, based on the number of Facebook fans they have, according to the application.
