CHICAGO — As Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders catches up to Hillary Clinton in Illinois, the two presidential hopefuls will return to Chicago Monday to energize their voters ahead of Tuesday's primary.

A new CBS News poll shows the state as a virtual toss-up between Sanders and Clinton, with Bernie closing a significant gap to garner 48 percent of support from likely Illinois voters. Hillary has 46 percent support, according to the CBS poll.

Those numbers represent a huge leap for Sanders, who was trailing Clinton in an early March Chicago Tribune poll by more than two-to-one margins.

With Illinois up for grabs, the two candidates will fit campaign stops into their Monday schedule before voters take to the polls Tuesday in Illinois, Florida and Ohio.

Clinton will be at the Plumber's Local 130 Union Hall, 1340 W. Washington Blvd., in the Near West Side starting at 10:45 a.m. Monday. According to her campaign, Clinton said she will discuss barriers to more economic opportunity for the middle class.

Doors to the Clinton event opened at 8:45 a.m. Monday.

Sanders will end a busy day on the campaign trail in Chicago Monday.

After two stops in Ohio, one in North Carolina and one in St. Louis, Sanders will head to the Auditorium Theater at Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., for a rally starting at 10:30 p.m.

The Sanders campaign has asked that supporters RSVP to the rally on his site. Doors will open at 8:30 p.m.
