LINCOLN SQUARE — Lincoln Square's Friendship Pet Food Pantry has supported hundreds of owners who may have otherwise had to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pet.
The pantry, which is 100 percent volunteer-run, is hosting a fundraiser 7-10 p.m. Friday at Begyle Brewing to keep its shelves stocked with food and cat litter.
The evening will feature beer, wine, cocktails and small plates from chef Ross Outten, former owner of Dolce Casa Cafe, as well as a raffle and silent auction. Tickets to the event are $35 if bought in advance (click here) or $40 at the door, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave.
The pantry opened in 2014 at 2733 W. Lawrence Ave. to help keep pets from being abandoned or surrendered to shelters for lack of food.
In 2015, the pantry provided food to 372 families, feeding 542 dogs and 785 cats.
Can't make the fundraiser but still want to help?
The Friendship Pet Food Pantry accepts donations of food and other supplies — leashes, cat and dog toys, etc. — during pet food distribution hours, 9-11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month. Items can also be dropped off from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays at the 47th Ward office, 4243 N. Lincoln Ave.
