CHICAGO — Five people were robbed at gunpoint in the Congress Plaza Hotel on Saturday, police said.
At about 8:30 a.m., two robbers followed a man back to his hotel room in the 500 block of South Michigan Avenue and forced their way in, according to police. Inside the room, the robbers stole phones, wallets, purses and cash from the three men and two women who were inside the room.
The robbers ran from the room, but the victims contacted hotel security and the robbers ran into security in the lobby, according to police. Security chased the robbers, but they escaped out a front door.
A gun was found at the hotel. No injuries were reported.
