LITTLE VILLAGE — A 19-year-old man was shot dead Thursday night, police said.

The man was standing on the sidewalk at 6:21 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Harding Avenue when he was shot, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to St. Anthony Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Michael Fernandez, of the 1600 block of South California Avenue.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.

The Tribune said Fernandez was shot in his head. Police said the gunman might have been aiming for someone else in a group of men standing near Fernandez.
