ROGERS PARK — Mayne Stage's Act One Pub will serve its final meal March 31 as the Col. Jennifer Pritzker-owned entertainment venue and eatery goes through a "transition," according to a statement from Pritzker's development firm Tawani Enterprises.
"This was a decision made by Tawani in order to focus on its core competency; the development and management of real estate," the group said.
Tawani will maintain control of the property, but look for a new tenant.
Sean McGowan, the chief operating officer for Tawani, said he's already speaking with "various restaurateurs" to fill the space.
The theater at 1328 W. Morse Ave. was formerly the Morse Theatre and Co-Ed Theatre before being bought by Pritzker and opening as Mayne Stage with Act One Pub in 2010. Pritzker is currently also behind the construction of a 45-unit condo building with three floors of dedicated parking across the street at 1313 W. Morse Ave.
Tawani said the theater will "carry on" and continue to "serve the neighborhood."
Gita Mirchandani, a spokeswoman for Tawani, said nothing at Mayne Stage is changing and it will continue to serve as an entertainment venue.
