
CHICAGO — One person has been killed and five wounded in shootings since Monday, police said.
A 23-year-old man was found shot dead in a street in Austin by police late Monday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.
In non-fatal shootings:
• Most recently, at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, a 23-year-old man was shot in Edgewater, Estrada said. The man was sitting in a parked car with his girlfriend in the 5900 block of North Kenmore Avenue when he heard people arguing near his car. Several shots were fired and the man was hit in his arm and back, and his ear was grazed by a bullet.
The man was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said.
Officers do not know if the man was the intended target, police said, and he has no known gang affiliation.
• At 9 p.m. Monday, three men were shot in Armour Square, Estrada said. The men were walking on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of South Wells Street when someone from a white minivan shot at them.
A 21-year-old man was shot in his left thigh and was in serious condition at Stroger Hospital. A 38-year-old man was shot in his right thigh and was in "stable" condition at Stroger Hospital, Estrada said, while a 25-year-old man had his left hip grazed by a bullet and refused medical attention.
The 25-year-old man is a documented gang member, police said, and the incident might be gang-related.
• At 5:15 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in Little Village, Estrada said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of South Kedvale Avenue when a dark-colored SUV drove up and someone inside the car fired at the man.
The man was hit in his left forearm and was taken to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was in good condition, Estrada said.
The man is a documented gang member, police said, and the incident might be gang-related.
No one has been charged in these shootings.
