HYDE PARK — The University of Chicago will celebrate the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with civil rights activist Van Jones.

Jones, a former White House adviser on green jobs and founder of the nonprofit Dream Corps, will give the keynote address during the university’s remembrance of King at 6 p.m. Monday at Rockefeller Memorial Church, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.

The event will also include a conversation between poet Nikki Giovanni and artist Theaster Gates.

The talks are free and open to the public.

The events are part of a larger schedule of events and conversations Monday. A full schedule is available online at the university’s website.
