HYDE PARK — Civil rights activist and historian Timuel Black will lead a tour on Saturday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s time in Chicago.
The bus and walking tour will leave at 1 p.m. Saturday from the southeast corner University Avenue and 59th Street. Organizers are asking people to arrive 15 minutes before the tour leaves to sign in.
Black, who was active in many of King's organizations, will talk about how the Congress of Racial Equality was formed, organizing the 1966 protests in Chicago and King’s legacy in the city.
The tour is $50 and free for University of Chicago students and Civic Knowledge Project partners.
