Woman, 28, Dies After Being Shot In Englewood Sunday: Authorities

CHICAGO — A woman shot in Englewood Sunday has died, bringing the total deaths from the shooting incident to two, according to authorities.

The 29-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were outside at 2 a.m. near 59th and Wentworth when someone walked up and fired at them, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Police initially reported that the shooting left one dead and one wounded, but the woman did not die from her injuries until hours after the shooting, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The man was hit in his chest and taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said. He was identified as Tyree White, of the 200 block of East 121st Place, according to medical examiner records. He was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m.

The woman was shot in her back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was in originally listed in"stable" condition, according to police.

She has been identified as Ashley Eddings, of Joliet, according to the medical examiner. She was pronounced dead at 6:05 a.m.

No one is in custody in the shooting.
