MORGAN PARK — "Miracle on 34th Street" will be performed on 111th Street of all places.

The holiday classic will be performed live six times beginning Dec. 11 at the Beverly Arts Center at 2407 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park.

The shows will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, 12, 18 and 19. Matinee performances will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 20. Tickets cost $21 for members of the community arts center and $23 for non-members.

The musical performance is based on the movie of the same name and combines the talents of professional actors with aspiring neighborhood residents including several teens and children. This same approach was used this summer when the professional actors joined forces with Beverly residents to perform "Crazy For You."

“We had an amazing summer of young people and community people working and learning from great professional actors. It’s working again as I watch the professionals, community members and youth share their passion and love of this craft. The magic doesn’t live only in the script but also in the performances of these talented actors," said Shellee Frazee, the art center's director and choreographer.

Children are invited to wear their holiday pajamas to the show on Dec. 13 as the center will host a North Pole adventure with the cast after the performance. It costs $10 for children to participate in the post-show activities. Adult chaperones are free.
