NEAR WEST SIDE — A security guard shot a 30-year-old man after stepping into a domestic dispute on the Near West Side Sunday night, police said.
Just after 10 p.m., a man was wielding a brick during a heated argument with a woman in the 2300 block of West Jackson Boulevard, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The guard was standing nearby, and when he tried to intervene, the man lunged at him with the brick, Estrada said. The guard then shot the man in his chest.
The man went to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in serious condition.
